The Superior DRT2000 40 (DRT2040) is a traditional direct vent gas fireplace with a wider 34-1/4 by 24-1/2 in. glass view in the same 17 in. depth as the 35 in. model. It burns up to 21,000 BTU/h on natural gas over a detailed ceramic fiber log set and glowing embers.
Choose natural gas or propane and millivolt or electronic ignition above. One unit vents out the top or the back, and the included Vista Black facade FVFBK40T with its safety barrier finishes the front.

F5026) with its barrier screen, which the DRT2000-E manual and Superior brochure state ships with this fireplace and must be installed before operation. Optional premium upgrades, sold separately: Reflection Black FRBK40T, Reflection Warm Chestnut FRWC40T, Craftsman Black FCBK40T or Craftsman Warm Chestnut FCWC40T.

Installation Notes
Frame a standard opening 40-7/8 in. wide, 41-1/4 in. high and 18-1/2 in. deep with 2x4 or larger lumber, choose top or rear venting with 4.5 x 7.5 in. Secure Vent, and keep the shelf and mantel clearances in the manual. The required facade and barrier must be installed before the fireplace is operated. Electronic models need a 120V supply; millivolt models only need power for an optional blower. In New York City, direct vent gas fireplaces are installed under the NYC Fuel Gas Code by a licensed master plumber, with DOB filing where required, and the vent termination location usually decides feasibility. Book a design consultation to plan the framing, venting and finish.

Frequently Asked Questions
What else do I need to buy?
The included Vista Black facade FVFBK40T with its safety barrier must be installed; you still need Secure Vent 4.5 x 7.5 in. direct vent pipe and termination, and a gas line by a licensed installer. A blower, remote and decorative liner are optional.
Millivolt or electronic ignition?
Millivolt models light with a piezo igniter and need no house power for the fire itself. Electronic models use intermittent pilot ignition on house power, with four AA batteries as backup during an outage.
Can it vent out the back?
Yes. It ships for top venting and can be converted to rear venting with the rear flue cover included in the box.
How much heat does it make?
Up to 21,000 BTU/h on natural gas and 19,000 BTU/h on propane, per the manual's input table.

Innovative Hearth Products 20 Year Limited Warranty for Superior gas fireplaces, per the current installation manual: 20 years on the product body, firebox and barrier, and on ceramic glass against thermal breakage only; 1 year on the burner, gas components, gaskets, logs (thermal breakage only), optional blowers and remote controls, and tempered glass; 90 days on optional glass doors and on parts not otherwise listed. Vent components, trim and paint are excluded. Coverage applies to the original owner at the original installation in the US or Canada, for products bought through an authorized IHP dealer, with labor paid at prevailing IHP rates for each component's warranty period.
