The Superior DRT3540 (DRT3500-E series) is a 40 inch traditional direct vent gas fireplace with a 34-1/4 in. by 24-1/2 in. glass view, an oak log set with glowing and platinum embers, and a remote control in the box. It is rated up to 33,000 BTU/h on natural gas, enough to be a real heat source in a mid-size living room.
Superior requires a firebox liner kit and a facade or barrier, chosen separately, to finish the fireplace before first use, which lets you pick the interior and face to suit the room.

Installation Notes
A qualified gas installer must frame, vent and wire the DRT3540 per manual 901276-00 and install the liner kit and facade before first use. Rear vent runs allow up to 8 ft horizontal with one elbow and at least 3 ft of vertical. In New York City, gas work requires a licensed master plumber and permits, and sealed direct vent fireplaces like this one are a common code-compliant choice.
