The Superior VRT4550 is a 50 in. universal vent-free firebox (VRT4500 series) with stacked or herringbone refractory liners, a decorative mesh screen and a heat deflection hood. It is the shell for a separately purchased, listed vent-free gas log set up to 40,000 BTU/h, which is what supplies the burner and ignition. It suits large rooms in areas that permit vent-free gas, where you want a traditional masonry look without a chimney.

Installation Notes
Vent-free gas appliances cannot be installed in New York City under the NYC Fuel Gas Code. We sell this model for installations outside the five boroughs where local code allows it. Where permitted, a qualified installer must match the log set to the firebox, check room volume, and follow Superior manual 126700-01. Do not build a wood fire in this firebox. Vent, trim and paint are excluded. US and Canada installations.
