The Tempest Lantern from Fire Garden, a Travis Industries brand, is a permanent, gas-plumbed outdoor lantern with a flame enclosed in a four-sided tempered glass housing. The open-air design is meant to keep the flame lit in wind and rain, and an automatic shutoff valve closes the gas if the flame goes out.

This listing is the natural gas 20K lantern with 24V Hot Shot electronic ignition, rated by Fire Garden at up to 20,000 BTU input, with a high temperature black powder coated frame and cap. Choose the head alone or with a ground post, deck post, pillar or wall mount above, and add the Tempest transformer to power the ignition.

Installation Notes

Each Tempest lantern is plumbed to a permanent gas line; the ground post, deck post and wall mount each include a 1/2 in. flex line. The Hot Shot ignition runs on 24V AC from a separate 110 to 24V transformer, so plan the low voltage wiring and switch location along with the gas route. This listing is the natural gas head. The Travis Industries owner's manual states the lantern is not convertible from one fuel to another, so a propane installation needs the separate factory propane head (Fire Garden LP SKU 94900757). Follow the Travis Industries owner's manual and mount instructions, and use a licensed gas installer. For New York City addresses, outdoor gas fire features and their gas piping fall under the NYC Fuel Gas Code and Department of Buildings permitting, and propane at residences is restricted by the NYC Fire Code, so confirm the approval path before you buy.
