The Outdoor Plus Del Mar 48 is a rectangular gas fire pit handmade in the USA from glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC). It puts out up to 65,000 BTU/h from a 304 stainless steel pan and burner, comes in 18 finishes and several ignition choices, and suits a patio that wants a low, wide, clean-lined fire feature with no stored propane tank.

What Is Included and What You Will Need
- Included per the spec sheet: the concrete fire pit, pan, stainless steel burner, key valve, whistle-free hoses and black lava rock, plus the ignition system you select.
- Needed: a gas line sized for the maximum BTU on the product label, with a shut-off valve outside the enclosure, installed by a qualified technician.
- Needed for electronic ignition: the power described in the matching manual (a 120 VAC GFCI outlet for the low voltage transformer, or a GFCI-protected outlet for plug and play).
- Use only a breathable cover, never a plastic or non-breathable one.
Installation Notes
This fire pit is for outdoor use only. The manuals call for a vented, non-combustible enclosure, installation above grade with drainage, and a leak test of all gas connections. The Plug and Play manual says to use only lava rock over the burner and not to use fire glass, so confirm any media choice with us before you add it. In New York City, gas piping requires a licensed master plumber and a permit. Book a consultation and we will plan the enclosure, gas supply and ignition with you.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much heat does the Del Mar 48 produce?
The spec sheet lists up to 65,000 BTU/h. It is a decorative fire feature, so place seating accordingly and keep to the clearances in the manual.
Does it store a propane tank?
No. The spec sheet does not list tank storage. It can be piped to natural gas, or fed from a propane supply you provide.
Which ignition should I pick?
Match lit is the simplest. Flame sense adds a pilot and thermocouple, and the electronic options need a GFCI-protected power supply. Each has its own manual in the documentation list.
Can I use fire glass?
The Plug and Play manual says to use only lava rock, no smaller than 1/2 inch and no more than 2 inches deep over the burner. Confirm other media with us first.
