The Outdoor Plus Del Mar 72" is a long, low rectangular fire table cast by hand from glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC), with a 48" linear stainless steel burner running down the center. It is long enough to run the length of a full sectional, yet the 15 inch height keeps sight lines open across the patio. Each body is individually handmade in the USA in your choice of 18 finishes, and it ships with a 304 stainless steel pan and burner, key valve, whistle-free hoses and black lava rock, so it is a finished piece that only needs a gas connection.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

  • Included: Del Mar GFRC body, 304 stainless steel pan and burner, key valve, whistle-free hoses, black lava rock, and the ignition system you select
  • Required: a natural gas line or propane supply sized for 65,000 BTU and connected by a licensed gas installer; a propane cylinder is not included
  • Plug and Play models: a 110V outlet or hardwired switch installed by a licensed electrician; Low Voltage models: the supplied transformer on a GFCI outlet
  • Recommended: a breathable cover; The Outdoor Plus warns that plastic or non-breathable covers can stick to the finish
  • Propane buyers: skip the fire glass upgrade. The Outdoor Plus does not recommend fire glass on propane fire features, because propane is heavier than natural gas and can pool in the burn area and cause a backfire. Stay with the included lava rock

Installation Notes

The Del Mar is for outdoor use only. For a 65,000 BTU unit The Outdoor Plus calls for at least 36" from structures and combustibles on all sides and at least 84" of open overhead clearance in the Plug and Play manual (96" in the match lit manual; we plan to the larger figure). Set it on a level, stable, well drained surface and keep the base ventilation clear. The Outdoor Plus requires installation by a qualified installer, and dense stone such as granite or marble should be kept away from the flame. In New York City the gas line must be run by a licensed master plumber under the NYC Fuel Gas Code, and propane at residences is restricted by the NYC Fire Code, so most city installs are natural gas. Talk to our design team about placement, gas sizing and finish samples.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use fire glass instead of lava rock?

On natural gas, yes, using fire glass approved for fire features and no more than 2" of media over the burner. On propane, no: The Outdoor Plus does not recommend fire glass on propane units, so keep the included lava rock.

Which ignition should I choose?

Match lit is the simplest and needs no power. Flame Sense adds a pilot with a flame-sensing safety valve. Plug and Play and 12V Low Voltage let you run the fire from a switch, timer or smart-home controller.

Will the color match the photos exactly?

Each body is handmade, so expect slight variation in color and texture. We can help you review finish samples before you order.

Warranty

Under The Outdoor Plus 2025 product warranty, the GFRC fire pit body is covered for 1 year. Stainless steel pans are covered for 5 years residential and 1 year commercial, and burner rings and bars carry a lifetime warranty. Electronics, gas valves and pilot assemblies are covered for 1 year residential and 6 months commercial. Electrodes and spark igniters are not warrantied because of their service life. Made-to-order goods are not returnable.
