The Napoleon Ascent 36 (B36-1) is a traditional direct vent gas fireplace with a log set and glowing ember bed and a 30-11/16 in. by 23-11/16 in. view, a strong all-round choice for living rooms and family rooms that want a classic fire with real presence.
Napoleon rates it at 18,000 BTU/h, with your choice of millivolt (standing pilot, runs without power) or electronic ignition on natural gas or propane. It vents top or rear with 4 in. / 7 in. pipe, and the interior can stay painted black or take MIRRO-FLAME porcelain or Westminster brick panels.

Installation Notes
Frame the Ascent 36 to 35-1/2 in. W x 35 in. H x 16 in. D and vent it top or rear with Napoleon 4 in. / 7 in. direct vent components, following the vent tables and termination clearances in the installation manual. Supply natural gas at 4.5 to 7 in. w.c. or propane at 11 to 13 in. w.c., keep the mantel limits in the manual, and have a licensed gas technician install it. In New York City, direct vent gas fireplaces are installed under the NYC Fuel Gas Code by a licensed plumber with DOB filing where required, and the vent termination location usually decides feasibility. Frequently Asked Questions
Millivolt or electronic ignition?
Millivolt uses a standing pilot and runs without household power. Electronic ignition lights the pilot only when needed and uses the battery back-up during an outage.
How much heat does it make?
Napoleon lists the Ascent 36 at up to 18,000 BTU/h.
Is the vent kit included?
No. A Napoleon 4 in. / 7 in. direct vent kit is required and depends on whether you terminate through a wall or the roof.
Can it go in a bedroom?
Yes. Napoleon approves the Ascent for bedroom, bathroom and bed-sitting room installations, and it is certified for mobile homes.

Warranty
Napoleon President's Limited Lifetime Warranty: the combustion chamber, heat exchanger, burner, logs and embers, ceramic glass (thermal breakage), plated parts and porcelain components are covered for as long as the original purchaser owns the fireplace, with parts replaced free for the first 10 years and at 50% of retail after that. Electrical components and wearable parts (blower, gas valve, switches, wiring, remote, ignitor, gaskets, pilot assembly) are covered for one year, and warranty labour is covered for the first year through an authorized Napoleon dealer.
