The Calais Oval is American Fyre Designs' answer for curved seating and softer landscapes: a 60-inch sculpted oval of glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) with a 24-inch stainless linear burner floating a ribbon of flame down the center. At 18 inches tall it sits at chat height in front of deep lounge chairs. Choose the FyreStarter version if you want phone control and a true high/low flame; the manual version keeps things simple at 60,000 BTU.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

  • Included: Calais Oval fire table in your selected finish, 24" stainless linear burner and valve system, bag of lava granules for the required base layer
  • Natural gas: a dedicated gas line with shutoff sized for up to 65,000 BTU (5" to 10.5" w.c. inlet pressure), installed by a licensed plumber
  • Propane: the tank cannot go inside this model; use a remote 20 lb cylinder in a tank enclosure such as the Contempo Tank/End Table with the AFD 5110-26 10 ft extension hose
  • FyreStarter models: a 120V, 15 amp minimum, GFCI-protected weatherproof in-use outlet
  • Decorative media (recommended 40 lbs of glass or gems, or 20 lbs of lava): Fyre Glass, Reflective Fyre Glass, Fyre Gems or Diamond Nuggets
  • Optional: vinyl protective cover (8151A)

Installation Notes

Outdoor use only. Place the table on a hard, level surface, keep 3 ft of clearance from its edge to any construction, and never set it under overhead construction less than 6 ft above the tabletop. Natural gas models connect to fixed piping that must be installed and leak-tested by a qualified installer; in New York City that means a licensed master plumber under permit, and rooftop or terrace placements may need building approval. For propane, plan where the remote tank enclosure will sit within reach of the 10 ft hose. The table ships LTL freight at 240 lbs. We install fire tables across NYC, Long Island, Westchester and New Jersey; schedule a consultation and we will plan gas, power and placement with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the propane tank fit inside the Calais?

No. This model has no tank compartment. Propane installs use a remote 20 lb cylinder, usually hidden in a matching tank/end table and connected with a 10 ft extension hose.

Manual or FyreStarter?

The manual version lights with a battery igniter and runs at 60,000 BTU. FyreStarter adds electronic ignition, phone control over Bluetooth, a 65,000 BTU high and 33,000 BTU low setting, and USB charging, and it needs a 120V GFCI outlet.

How much fire glass do I need?

American Fyre Designs recommends about 40 lbs of glass or gems over the included lava base, or 20 lbs of lava granules or coals if you prefer a natural look.

Warranty

American Fyre Designs by R.H. Peterson Co. warrants the GFRC fire feature and burner for three years and all valves, electrical components, accessories and controls for one year (batteries, wind guards and screens excluded) from the date of purchase. Coverage is for the original purchaser with proof of purchase, excludes labor, and does not cover damage from burning wood or any fuel other than natural gas or propane, or damage or discoloration from use in high wind.
