The American Fyre Designs Magnolia 66 Inch Gas Fire Lantern (series 716) lifts a gas flame to eye level inside a sculpted glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) column with a pierced lattice crown. It works as a vertical fire accent for entries, pool corners and outdoor rooms where a bowl or table would take up too much room. Propane models hold a 20 lb cylinder inside the base, and natural gas models connect to a gas line.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

  • Included: Magnolia lantern in your finish, burner and valve system and a base bag of lava granules
  • Propane: a standard 5 gallon (20 lb) cylinder with an overfill protection valve, not included, placed inside the base; the regulator hose is pre-installed
  • Natural gas: a shutoff valve within 6 ft of the unit and a supply pipe of at least 1/2 in interior diameter, installed by a licensed plumber
  • FyreStarter models: a 120V GFCI protected weatherproof outlet nearby
  • Decorative media: AFD recommends 6 lbs of AFD glass. Nuggets and reflective glass cannot be used in lanterns. See Fyre Glass or Fyre Gems
  • Optional: vinyl protective cover (8134A per the listing)

Installation Notes

Outdoor use only. Anchor the base to a hard, level floor and keep the clearances above. Do not raise the media more than 1/4 in above the burner. Natural gas piping must be installed by a qualified installer; in New York City that means a licensed master plumber under permit, and roof or terrace locations may need building approval. Propane storage and use are regulated in the five boroughs, so confirm your building's rules. Units ship by LTL freight and are made to order. Talk to us about your patio plan.

Can a propane tank go inside the Magnolia?

Yes. The manual shows a 20 lb cylinder with an overfill protection valve placed inside the base through the storage door, with the regulator hose pre-installed.

What media can I use?

Use American Fyre Designs glass media only, about 6 lbs. Nuggets and reflective glass cannot be used in lanterns.

Does it need to be fastened down?

Yes. The manual requires fastening the base to the floor with hardware suited to your floor material.

Is it for indoor use?

No. It is an outdoor decorative gas appliance.

Warranty

American Fyre Designs warrants the GFRC fire feature and burner for three years and valves, electrical components, accessories and controls for one year from the date of purchase, excluding batteries, wind guards and screens. Coverage is for the original purchaser with proof of purchase and for single family residential use in the US or Canada. Misuse, unauthorized changes, non-Peterson parts and damage from burning wood or high winds are not covered.
