The Fire Magic EL3285 is a built-in induction cooktop rated for outdoor household use, so you can boil, saute and hold sauces beside an Echelon Diamond grill without a gas line. It drops into a small 12 1/4 x 13 in countertop opening, runs from a dedicated 120 V GFCI circuit, and closes under a stainless lid when you are done.

Installation Notes

Set the cooktop into the countertop cut-out with the hangers resting on all four sides. Fire Magic requires at least 4 in to walls and backsplashes, 12 in to any other appliance in the same enclosure, 2 in clear below the unit with the cut-out open to the enclosure, 30 in to overhead construction, and two enclosure vent openings of at least 10 sq in free area each.

Power it from a dedicated 120 V, 20 A GFCI circuit with a weather-proof in-use covered outlet or disconnect, and never use it in open rain or standing water. Keep the lid on when it is not in use, and allow the unit to cool before covering it. People with pacemakers should consult their doctor, as the unit emits an electromagnetic field.

Cookware with a magnetic base and at least a 4 in flat bottom; if a magnet sticks, it works. Fire Magic recommends an 8 in pan.

What power does it need?

A dedicated 120 V, 20 A GFCI circuit with a weather-proof in-use covered outlet; the unit draws 1,800 W.

What cut-out does it need?

12 1/4 in side to side, 13 in front to back and 6 in deep.

Can it stay outside?

Yes, it is rated for outdoor household use (IPX4), but keep it out of open rain and standing water and keep the lid on when not in use.

Fire Magic's current product specifications guide lists induction cooktops at three (3) years, with ignition systems and electronic components at one (1) year. The warranty applies to the original purchaser in single family residential use in the United States or Canada, requires proof of purchase, and does not cover labor.
