The Napoleon Elevation X 42 (EX42NTEL) is a traditional direct vent gas fireplace with a deep firebox, Ultra High Definition logs and a glowing electric ember bed that reads like a real wood fire. It is the right choice for a living room or den where the fireplace is the focal point under a mantel or TV. A heat circulating blower and a Bluetooth-ready remote come standard, and each package on this page includes your choice of log set and interior panel.

What Is Included and What You Will Need
- Included: EX42NTEL fireplace, blower, remote, safety screen, plus the log set and interior panel selected above (and the front or trim if selected)
- Required: Napoleon 5 in. / 8 in. direct vent pipe and a wall or roof termination, such as the GD430 10 ft flex vent kit
- Required: a 115V receptacle in the enclosure for the blower and ember bed
- Optional: Napoleon Elevation X finishing trim, Whitney or Zen fronts, premium bevelled trim (BTEX36-42), non-combustible kit (NCEX36/42), Dynamic Heat Control kit
Installation Notes
The EX42 needs a natural gas line, a 115V outlet and a 5 in. / 8 in. direct vent run to an exterior wall or roof. Follow the published framing dimensions, keep finishing materials outside the finishing flange, and observe the mantel chart; the Dynamic Heat Control kit lets you lower mantel and TV clearances. Keep furniture and objects at least 4 ft from the front. Installation must be done by a qualified, licensed gas installer. In New York City, direct vent gas fireplaces are installed under the NYC Fuel Gas Code by a licensed plumber with DOB filing where required, and the vent termination location usually decides feasibility. We can review your space during a fireplace design consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the log set included?
The fireplace requires a log set to be complete. Every option on this page includes one: Birch, Split Oak or Driftwood, along with the interior panel you select.
Can I mount a TV above it?
Yes, with planning. Napoleon designs the Elevation X for TV walls, and the Dynamic Heat Control kit reduces mantel and TV clearances by redirecting heat. Follow the mantel chart in the installation manual for the final heights.
Does it work in a power outage?
The fire can run on battery backup. The blower and electric ember bed need household power.
Is it a heater?
Napoleon certifies the Elevation X as a vented decorative appliance (ANSI Z21.50) with a 45,000 BTU/h input and an included blower, so it adds real warmth to the room, but it is not rated as a primary heating appliance.

Warranty
Napoleon President's Limited Lifetime Warranty: the combustion chamber, heat exchanger, burner, logs and embers, ceramic glass (thermal breakage), plated parts and porcelain components are covered for as long as the original purchaser owns the fireplace, with parts replaced free for the first 10 years and at 50% of retail after that. Electrical components and wearable parts (blower, gas valve, switches, wiring, remote, ignitor, gaskets, pilot assembly) are covered for one year, and warranty labour is covered for the first year through an authorized Napoleon dealer.
