The Superior ERL3000 72 in. linear electric fireplace (ERL3072, also known as the Plexus 72, MPE-72D) puts a 72 in. wide flame on a feature wall or TV wall. It recesses into a 6-1/2 in. deep framed wall or mounts on the wall, and combustible materials can be framed right up to its edge.
Yellow and blue flame effects, multi-color ember bed lighting and ceiling lights each have their own brightness settings, and a 1,500 W fan-forced heater adds about 5,000 BTU/h of supplemental heat with a thermostat. It plugs in with the supplied cord or can be hardwired.

What Is Included and What You Will Need
- Included: ERL3072 fireplace, remote control, wall mounting bracket, crystal media and log set, per the manual
- Needed: a dedicated 120V, 15 A circuit is recommended given the 13.33 A draw
- Needed for a recessed install: framing 75 in. W x 16-1/2 in. H x 6-1/2 in. D
- Needed: an electrician for hardwired installs
Installation Notes
The ERL3072 can be recessed into a framed wall 75 in. W x 16-1/2 in. H and 6-1/2 in. deep, or wall mounted on its bracket, and combustible materials may be framed right up to the edge of the unit. It draws 13.33 A at 120V, so plan a dedicated circuit, and Superior advises against extension cords. Do not place it against a non-insulated exterior wall or a vapor barrier. Electric fireplaces need no gas line or venting, which makes them one of the simplest fireplace options for New York City apartments and co-ops, subject to building and board approval for the electrical work.
