The Superior VRT3142 is the 42 in. model of the VRT3100 series of vent-free gas fireboxes: a heat-circulating firebox with a clean face built to hold a listed vent-free gas log set, so you get a traditional fireplace with no chimney or vent pipe. Choose the liner above: stacked refractory liners with floor (VRT3142WS) or Back Bay Brown ceramic fiber liners with black metal floor (VRT3142F).
The firebox has no burner of its own. Superior says it is compatible with any listed ANSI Z21.11.2 vent-free log set and recommends its own sets for best results, so the log set, its burner and its controls are chosen and purchased separately. The fuel choice above refers to the log set you plan to install.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

Installation Notes
Frame to 48-1/4 in. W x 40-1/4 in. H x 20-1/2 in. D and size the log set to the interior firebox dimensions above. Vent-free appliances need enough room volume or ventilation air for the log set's BTU rating and are restricted in bedrooms; follow the firebox and log set manuals. Do not burn wood. Vent-free gas appliances cannot be installed in New York City under the NYC Fuel Gas Code. We sell this model for installations outside the five boroughs where local code allows it. Talk to us about the right log set and whether a vent-free system suits your home outside the city.

Warranty
Superior (Innovative Hearth Products) 20 year limited warranty, per the Superior smart sheet; IHP's 20 year coverage applies to the product body and firebox, with shorter terms on other components such as optional glass doors (90 days). Coverage is for the original owner, requires purchase from a listed IHP supplier and installation by an IHP-approved licensed contractor in the United States or Canada. The vent-free log set carries its own warranty.
