Description
The Trade-Wind PSS008XL is the duct silencer for 8 in. round duct. A perforated lining and diffuser material absorb fan noise from Trade-Wind and other in-line and remote-mount blowers before it travels down the duct to the hood. It ships permanently assembled, has no moving parts and mounts at any angle.

What Is Included and What You Will Need
- Included: one PSS008XL duct silencer, per current listing
- Required: an 8 in. in-line or remote blower, such as the Trade-Wind 836 CFM 8 in. in-line blower
- Recommended: the Trade-Wind DPR008 back-draft damper and neoprene-lined FC8 Fast Clamps
Installation Notes
Per Trade-Wind, install the silencer in the duct between the in-line blower and the hood or liner, and connect it with sheet metal screws or FC Fast Clamps. It matters most when the blower sits in a chase right above the liner rather than in the attic. In New York City, a hood or in-line blower on a terrace, rooftop or in an apartment usually means new duct penetrations and electrical work, so building approval and a licensed electrician are part of the plan.
