The Trade-Wind PSS006XL is a 6 in. round duct silencer that installs in the duct run between an in-line or remote blower and the hood or liner to absorb motor noise. Trade-Wind's in-line blower instructions call for a Trade-Wind duct silencer whenever the blower sits in a chase right above the liner, and note that the blower and silencer can be installed at any angle.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

Installation Notes

Per Trade-Wind, install the silencer between the in-line blower and the hood or liner, and connect it with sheet metal screws or FC Fast Clamps. In New York City, a hood or in-line blower on a terrace, rooftop or in an apartment usually means new duct penetrations and electrical work, so building approval and a licensed electrician are part of the plan.

Do I need one?

Trade-Wind highly recommends it when the blower is in a chase directly above the liner instead of the attic.

Does it fit 8 in. duct?

No. Trade-Wind makes the PSS008XL for 8 in. duct.
