The Trade-Wind PSX006XL is a 392 CFM in-line blower for 6 in. round duct. It installs in the duct run between a Trade-Wind or comparable hood liner and the roof or wall cap, ideally in the attic, to keep motor noise away from the kitchen.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

  • Included: PSX006XL blower with integral mounting brackets, shipped fully assembled
  • Required: 6 in. metal duct to an exterior roof or wall cap, and a 120V circuit
  • Recommended: the Trade-Wind PSS006XL 6 in. duct silencer and neoprene-lined FC6 Fast Clamps

Installation Notes

Per the Trade-Wind instructions, mount the blower near or slightly beyond the midpoint of the duct run, and always vent it outdoors. If it must sit in a chase right above the liner, fit a Trade-Wind duct silencer between them. Wire the red variable-control lead only to a variable-speed liner, never to a 3-speed (-6 or -12) model. In New York City, a hood or in-line blower on a terrace, rooftop or in an apartment usually means new duct penetrations and electrical work, so building approval and a licensed electrician are part of the plan.

No. It is not outdoor rated.

Does it need a silencer?

Not always, but Trade-Wind strongly recommends one when the blower sits right above the liner.
