Description

The Viking Professional 5 Series 36-inch built-in gas grill (VQGI5361) pairs 2 cast brass burners rated at 25,000 BTU each plus one 23,000 BTU ProSear infrared burner, for 73,000 BTU over 935 sq. in. of cooking surface. It drops into a non-combustible island cutout and hangs from its own countertop trim, so no support deck is needed in a masonry enclosure.

It is a strong fit for owners who want a restaurant-style grill with a dedicated searing zone, a dual-position rotisserie and night-grilling lighting in one unit, offered for natural gas or propane.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

  • Required: a non-combustible enclosure with ventilation holes, a gas supply sized for the total BTU load, and a 120 V, 15 A GFCI outlet installed by an electrician

Installation Notes

Built-in 5 Series grills install in a non-combustible island using the 35 x 10-1/8 x 22 in. cutout, or in a combustible enclosure only with the Viking insulated jacket supported by side ledges or a full deck. Viking requires a 3 in. clearance behind the grill for the hood, 6 in. on the left above the counter for the rotisserie motor and skewer, and 12 in. (below counter) or 18 in. (above counter) to adjacent combustible construction. The enclosure needs ventilation openings.

Gas connections must be made by a licensed plumber or gas fitter. In New York City that means a licensed master plumber and permit for natural gas, and propane cylinders are restricted on terraces and rooftops by the FDNY. Frequently Asked Questions

Natural gas or propane?

Choose the fuel in the options. The model number ends in N for natural gas or L for propane. Order the version that matches the gas supply at your site.

What is the ProSear burner?

It is a 23,000 BTU infrared burner that replaces one standard burner position and runs much hotter at the grate for steakhouse-style searing.

Is the rotisserie included?

Yes. The rotisserie motor, spit and one 14,000 BTU rear infrared burner are included, with two roasting positions.

Is a cover included?

No. Add the fitted Viking cover with the With Cover option.

Do I need an insulated jacket?

Only if the island is built from combustible materials such as wood framing. For masonry or steel-stud and cement board islands, the grill drops straight into the cutout.

Warranty

Viking's specification sheet for the 5 Series grills lists a 1-year full warranty on the complete product, a 90-day full warranty on cosmetic parts such as glass, painted and decorative items, and a 5-year limited warranty on the stainless steel burner assembly, ceramic ProSear burner, grill grates and briquette trays. Warranty service must be performed by an authorized Viking service agent; we confirm the current terms for your exact model at order.
