What Is Included and What You Will Need

  • Included: CROSSFIRE CFB brass burner, flex line kit (two flex lines on CFB290 and larger) and key valve kit with chrome decorative flange and two keys
  • Not included: a burner plate or pan; Warming Trends sells round and square plates sized to each burner
  • Required, sold separately: fire-rated media such as Warming Trends black lava rock (BLR) or rolled lava rock (LRR)
  • Required: a non-combustible, vented enclosure and a natural gas line with an exterior shutoff, run by a licensed installer
  • Optional: Warming Trends VENTBW vent kit for the enclosure

Installation Notes

Warming Trends requires a non-combustible enclosure with venting on at least two opposing sides, 18 sq in. minimum each, placed mid to low; the cavity must never be filled with gravel, crushed rock or concrete, and the burner should sit 4 to 6 in. below the top to protect the flame from wind. Support the plate or pan on blocks, bricks or L-brackets, never on the valve. Keep 36 in. horizontally and at least 84 in. overhead from combustible materials (Version 6 manual), fit a gas shutoff outside the fire feature, and have a licensed gas professional make the connection and leak test. Cover the burner with fire-rated media no more than 1/2 in. above the jets; never use gravel, pebbles or river rock. A center support under the plate is recommended for round or square plates over 30 in. For New York City addresses, outdoor gas fire features and their gas piping fall under the NYC Fuel Gas Code and Department of Buildings permitting, and propane at residences is restricted by the NYC Fire Code, so the approval path for a built-in fire pit must be confirmed before you buy. Book a design consultation and we will size the burner, plate and gas line.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which size do I need?

Match the burner to the inside dimension of your fire pit: for example the CFB60 or CFB84 for 18 in., CFB120 for 24 in. and CFB180 or CFB240 for 30 in., per the Warming Trends burner size guide.

Is a plate included?

No. These kits are the burner, flex line and key valve. Add a Warming Trends plate sized to the burner if your fire pit does not have one.

Is propane available?

The sizes on this listing are natural gas versions. Ask us about propane.

What media can I use?

Fire-rated media made for fire features, such as lava rock or fire glass, placed on the plate rather than dumped over the burner and no more than 1/2 in. above the jets. Never use gravel, pebbles or river rock.
