Required Crushed Glass: Complete 48-Inch Outdoor Fireplace Package
RMI 2026–2027 catalog requirement: This 48-inch see-through Empire Carol Rose outdoor fireplace requires 8 bags of approved 3-lb crushed-glass media to complete the burner installation (total 24 lb). Select the compatible Bronze DG1BZR, Copper DG1BCR or Clear Frost DG1CLF glass. Black Polished DG1BKP and Blue Clear DG1BUC are accent only and cannot substitute for the required base media. Decorative glass drops are also accent pieces only.
Standard fireplace package: burner, three-stage manual flame control, preprogrammed multicolor LED under-burner lighting, push-button battery ignition, and standard weather deflector glass. Additional cost: required crushed glass is separately selected. A see-through configuration may require two matching weather doors if optional weather doors are ordered.

The Carol Rose 48" See-Through is an outdoor-rated vent-free linear gas fireplace from Empire Comfort Systems, open on both faces so the same 48-inch ribbon of flame shows on each side of a wall. It is for a covered patio, outdoor room or a dividing wall between a dining terrace and a lounge, with a stainless steel exterior for the weather and no chimney or flue to build.
Clear Frost crushed glass, seven-color LED lighting under the burner and a 55,000 BTU maximum input make it a clean, modern centerpiece that reads from either side, with a manual valve that steps down to 45,000 and 35,000 BTU.

Installation Notes
This is an outdoor vent-free appliance and must never be installed indoors, in a garage or in any enclosed area. Follow the manual for permitted partial enclosures and keep the clearances listed above. A see-through installation needs two weather doors and two wind guards if used, and the fireplace must never be operated with the weather door in place. For New York City addresses, outdoor gas fireplaces and their piping fall under the NYC Fuel Gas Code and Department of Buildings permitting, so the approval path for this vent-free unit must be confirmed before you buy. We review that, along with Long Island, Westchester and New Jersey sites, during a design consultation. Can this fireplace be installed in New York City?
It is certified for outdoor use only, and any NYC installation of an outdoor gas fireplace must clear the NYC Fuel Gas Code and Department of Buildings process. Confirm the approval path for your property with us and a licensed master plumber before ordering.
Does it come with the glass?
Only if you choose a glass option above. The fireplace needs about 8 sq ft of crushed glass; choose No Thanks only if you already have it.
Do I need two weather doors?
Yes. The manual calls for two weather doors on see-through models, and two wind guards if you add them for a windy site.

Warranty
Per the Empire Comfort Systems installation manual, the fireplace carries a limited five-year parts warranty on all components, and accessories and controls carry shorter coverage as stated in the manual. Coverage is for the original purchaser and does not include labor, travel, diagnostics, freight or removal and reinstallation. Warranty service is handled through the installing dealer.
