The Fire Magic 48-VH-7 is a 48 in, 1200 CFM outdoor wall-mount vent hood for mid-to-large grill lines: Fire Magic lists it for grills up to the 790 models. It pulls smoke, heat and grease out of an outdoor kitchen and covers a typical 36 to 40 in grill with room to spare.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

  • Included: vent hood with transition, light assemblies and bulbs, baffle and grease filters.
  • Required: a 120 VAC GFCI outlet, metal ductwork to the outdoors, and a non-combustible rear wall mounting.
  • Optional and sold together: 48 in spacer and 48 in duct cover. Fire Magic states the duct cover and spacer must be used together.

Installation Notes

This hood is for outdoor, wall-mount installation only and must be installed by a qualified professional. Mount it 30 to 33 in above the grill, vent it to the outdoors with metal duct, and keep ducting as straight as possible. The hood needs a 120 VAC, 15 A minimum GFCI grounded outlet. NYC and Long Island jobs need the correct permits, and the hood has to suit your grill line and roof or soffit. Book a design consultation and we will size the hood, spacer and duct cover with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which grills is the 48 in hood for?

Fire Magic lists the 48-VH-7 for grills up to the 790 models. The 60 in hood is for up to the E1060.

Do I need the spacer and duct cover?

Neither is included. Fire Magic sells them for this hood and states they must be used together; a custom spacer and soffit are the alternative, in non-combustible construction only.

Can it vent out the top or the back?

Both. It converts between top-vent and rear-vent, with a 10 in transition.

Can I use it over a charcoal grill?

No. The manual states it is for use with gas grills only.

Warranty

Fire Magic's published warranty covers vent hood housings for the life of the original purchaser, and all other vent hood components (except electronic parts) for three (3) years; electronic components including lights are covered for one (1) year.
