The Fire Magic 3178-52 insulating liner lets you install an EL500i built-in electric grill in an island framed with wood or other combustible materials, provided the countertop is non-combustible. The liner hangs from the countertop on its own hanger, so the grill drops in without extra framing underneath.

Use the liner whenever the EL500i goes into an island built of wood or other combustible framing; a fully non-combustible masonry island can use the grill cut-out without a liner. Cut the countertop to the liner dimensions above rather than the bare grill cut-out, and follow the enclosure and electrical instructions in the EL500i manual.
