The Fire Magic EL500i-4Z1E is the dual-control version of Fire Magic's 240V built-in electric grill, with two independently controlled cooking zones and searing heat up to 700 F. It is made for terraces, rooftops, condos and co-ops that prohibit gas or propane, and for cooks who want to sear on one side while holding food on the other. A 304 stainless body, patented Diamond Sear grids and Bluetooth touchscreen controls put it in a different class from plug-in patio grills.

Installation Notes

The EL500 is rated 6,000 W at 25 amps and must be wired to a dedicated 240VAC, 30 amp minimum, single-phase GFCI breaker with a weatherproof disconnect or plug and receptacle, installed by a qualified professional to the National Electrical Code. The countertop must be non-combustible; the enclosure can be combustible only with the insulating liner. Minimum clearances are 8 in. to a rear wall, 4 in. to a backsplash, 8 in. to side walls, 24 in. to corner walls, 6 in. around the control panel and 2 in. below the unit. Under combustible overhead construction an exhaust hood is required, mounted at least 30 in. above the countertop with a fan rated 1200 CFM or more. On a New York City terrace or rooftop where gas is not allowed, the EL500 is often the practical answer, but the building and electrical service need review. Book a design consultation and bring your building's alteration rules.

Warranty

Fire Magic limited warranty for the original purchaser of a single-family residential installation: stainless steel cooking grids and grill housing for life; heating elements 5 years; other grill components (except ignition and electronic parts) 3 years; EL500 glass touchscreen electronic controls 2 years; other electronic components, including thermometers and thermostats, and accessories 1 year. Labor is not included. Commercial or multi-user installations fall under a separate Fire Magic warranty.
