The Napoleon Riverside 36 is a clean face outdoor gas fireplace with a 50,000 BTU burner and a wide 36-1/8" x 30-1/16" viewing area. It is built for covered patios, pavilions and outdoor rooms where you want a real fireplace look, with a choice of oak or birch logs, optional brick-style decorative panels and a TV recess in the framing information. Natural gas and propane versions are offered.

Gas can enter from either side of the firebox enclosure. Identify the preferred inlet and remove that knock out before installation.

What Is Included and What You Will Need
- Included: the Riverside 36 fireplace. Log set and decorative panels depend on the options you select.
- Required: choose a log set (Oak OLKRS36 or High Definition Birch BLKRS36). Log selection is marked required on the options.
- Required: a gas supply line sized for 50,000 BTU and a framed non-combustible or compliant enclosure built to the spec sheet

Installation Notes
The Riverside is for outdoor use only. The location must keep at least 30 percent of the outdoor living space periphery open, and any enclosure must follow the spec sheet. Framing needs a 72" minimum enclosure height, and the mantel clearance chart on the spec sheet applies to combustible mantels. Gas hookup and framing should be done by a licensed professional. We can review your outdoor room plan, gas and clearances during a design consultation.

Do I need to choose a log set?
Yes. Napoleon offers a Standard Oak or High Definition Birch log set for the RSS36, and the option is marked required on this page.
Can I use it under a covered patio?
Napoleon allows partial enclosures with an overhead cover if the opening and enclosure rules on the spec sheet are met, including at least 30 percent of the horizontal periphery permanently open on a three-wall enclosure. Check local code for your site.
Does it come in propane?
Yes. The manual lists RSS36NE for natural gas and RSS36PE for propane. Choose the fuel in the options.
Can I mount a TV above it?
Napoleon provides TV recess information for framing and finishing. Follow the mantel clearance chart on the spec sheet and the manual.
