The Trade-Wind P7236 is a 36 in. pyramid-style outdoor BBQ grill hood (P7200 series) built as a remote blower model: it has no internal fan and is pre-wired to run a Trade-Wind in-line or exterior blower, which moves fan noise away from the grill. The 32 in. front-to-back canopy and 24 in. height cover the full grill, a double bank of stainless baffle filters catches grease, and a telescopic duct cover for 9 to 10 ft ceilings is included. It is made in Phoenix, Arizona from #304 stainless and galvanized steel.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

  • Required: an in-line or exterior blower, such as the Trade-Wind PSD010XL 1266 CFM in-line blower, offered above as the Blower Add-On option; 10 in. rigid metal duct to a locally built roof or wall cap (Trade-Wind no longer sells caps), a dedicated 120 V circuit, a covered outdoor location
  • Optional: PDC7236 duct cover for 10 to 12 ft ceilings

Installation Notes

Mount the hood to solid framing at 36 in. above the cooking surface, run rigid metal duct to the blower and outdoors, and wire the blower to the hood per the P7200 installation instructions and Best Practices section, which also includes a drawing for a locally built cap. Trade-Wind requires at least 3 ft of weatherproof roof coverage on every side of the hood not protected by an adjacent wall, sealed metal ductwork run to the outdoors, and no back-draft damper in a BBQ application. In New York City, kitchen exhaust ducting through roofs or exterior walls typically needs building approval, and many terraces and rooftops have their own rules, so confirm the duct route early. Does the P7236 include a blower?

No. The P7236 is the remote blower model; the P7236-12 version has an internal 1200 CFM blower. Pair this hood with an in-line or exterior blower.

How high should it be mounted?

Trade-Wind specifies 36 in. from the cooking surface to the canopy structure.

Is a duct cover included?

Yes, a telescopic duct cover for ceilings up to 10 ft. A taller cover for 10 to 12 ft ceilings is sold separately.

Should I add a damper?

No. Trade-Wind says not to use any damper in a BBQ hood application.

Warranty

Trade-Wind limited warranty (installation instructions): ventilation products are warranted to the original user against defects in materials and workmanship for 3 years from the date of purchase; Trade-Wind will repair or replace the unit or defective component. Light bulbs, faulty installation and use outside the US and Canada are not covered.
