The Bromic Platinum Smart-Heat Electric 2300W is a slim 240V infrared heater for covered patios, pergolas, balconies and restaurant terraces. A glass-ceramic screen spreads radiant heat over about 65 sq ft while giving off a soft glow rather than a bright orange light, and the 2.1 in deep white body mounts flat to a wall or ceiling, recesses into a ceiling, or hangs from an optional pole.

Installation Notes

This heater must be permanently hard-wired to a 220 to 240V supply by a licensed electrician, with an all-pole circuit breaker upstream. Keep it out of reach of a bath, shower or pool, never cover it, and allow two hours after switching off before handling. Bromic recommends mounting it under cover, away from direct rain, for the longest life and best appearance.

In New York City, new electrical circuits must be installed and filed by a licensed electrician, and outdoor terraces in multifamily buildings usually need board or landlord approval first.

How much area does the 2300W model heat?

About 65 sq ft of focused spot heat, per the current listing. For larger seating areas, use several heaters spaced at least 20 in apart or step up to the 3400W model.

Can it be installed indoors?

Bromic describes the Platinum Smart-Heat Electric as suitable for outdoor and indoor heating applications. Indoor use still has to meet your local electrical and building code.

Does it plug in?

No. It is hard-wired to a 220 to 240V circuit by a licensed electrician.

Can it get wet?

Bromic rates it IPX5 against water, but recommends mounting it under cover and away from direct rain.
