The Summerset 42 in. outdoor vent hood pulls smoke and grease away from a built-in grill with two 1,000 CFM centrifugal blowers, 2,000 CFM combined. It is sized for grills up to about 36 in. wide and suits covered patios, pergolas and outdoor kitchens against a wall.
Baffle filters lift out for the dishwasher, four LED lights brighten the cooking surface, and variable speed controls let you match fan speed to what you are cooking. It vents through the top or the rear with two 8 in. ducts.

What Is Included and What You Will Need

Installation Notes
Mount the hood 32 to 36 in. above the cooking surface, and when it sits above 32 in., make it at least 6 in. wider than the grill; check your grill's own overhead clearance too. Summerset recommends venting straight up through the roof with rigid metal or aluminum 8 in. duct, no more than three 90 degree elbows, at least 24 in. of straight run between elbows, and never terminating in an attic. Secure the hood to studs, or add toggle bolts if only one stud is available. In New York City, a hood on a terrace or rooftop usually means new duct penetrations and electrical work, so building approval and a licensed electrician are part of the plan. Book a design consultation and we will size the hood, duct run and grill together.

Frequently Asked Questions
What size grill does a 42 in. hood cover?
Summerset says a hood mounted more than 32 in. above the grill should be at least 6 in. wider than the grill, so up to a 36 in. grill at that height.
How high should it hang?
32 to 36 in. above the cooking surface, also checking the grill maker's overhead clearance.
Can it vent through a wall?
Yes. It can vent from the top or the rear, though Summerset recommends a vertical roof run where possible.
How do I clean the filters?
The baffle filters lift out and go in the dishwasher; Summerset suggests cleaning them at least twice a month.

Warranty
AMD Direct (Summerset) vent hood warranty, per the warranty information sheet: 5 years on all stainless steel construction and 3 years on blowers, LED lighting, wiring harness and switches. Registration is required online within 30 days of purchase; coverage is for the original purchaser at the original site, replacement parts only with no labor. Damage from running blowers with packing or debris inside is not covered, and Summerset asks you to check with it before using any other blower system.
