Installation Notes
AMD recommends mounting the hood 32 to 36 in. above the grill's cooking surface and, at that height, at least 6 in. wider than the grill. Duct it with 8 in. rigid metal pipe, ideally vertically through the roof, with no more than three 90 degree elbows, no two elbows together and at least 24 in. of straight duct between them; never terminate in an attic or use plastic or 4 in. laundry caps. Secure it to studs or with toggle bolts. In New York City, a hood on a terrace or rooftop usually means new duct penetrations and electrical work, so building approval and a licensed electrician are part of the plan.
